Explore Skåne: Cycling in Skåne: Midsummer camping

So it was the longest day and the shortest night. What did you do? I began to celebrate picking wild flowers and singing latvian songs while I do. I mixed Latvian and Swedish traditions of Midsummer culture. Celebrated it with my Latvian friend Liga (midsummer queen in Latvia) sitting by the beach and making flower crowns while watching sunset as well. In the midsummer the day cycled to a small park in Skåne, to celebrate midsummer outdoors. Two day 97km bike-backpacking adventure. There we had a campsite, not so good campfire, but a lot nice food and nature to look around. I also picked wild flowers there, to decorate our midsummer campsite. Being outdoors is the midsummer's most important "rule" how Nordic people celebrate it. So now here I share with my photo of "being outdoors and enjoying it there".

One paragraph I copypaste from "If you like Latvia, Latvia likes you":
The rumour has it that June 22 is supposed to be some kind of international “No Panty Day”. Interestingly enough, many Latvian Midsummer – Jāņi – celebratory traditions actually involve taking the clothes off. Swimming naked, going into sauna naked and running around naked is just some of the naked things that people are supposed to do. But it is not just to show off what a good job you have done preparing for the bikini season – each action involves a certain belief. You can run naked around the cornfields to make them grow better. You can bathe naked in the dew to become more pretty. If you are a woman looking for a husband, you can put a rose wreath on your head and run around naked: the guy that catches you will become your spouse. And, less romantically, you can stand naked in a gate and see the devil, if you please.
The picture is a scene from the Latvian movie named “A Limousine The Colour Of Midsummer's Eve”. Yes, that’s how obsessed we are with our Jāņi.
